The ninth edition of the “Incontri di Geologia” , organized by the GeoSed section of the Italian Geological Society, in collaboration with Geologia Marina and Geologia Planetaria sections, took place at University of Catania on the 22nd of november. The event was hosted at the Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences (DSBGA) of the University of Catania.

This annual meeting brought together researchers, doctoral students, and young scientists to discuss advances in sedimentology, stratigraphy, marine geology, and related fields. The event featured oral and poster sessions aimed at fostering collaboration within the Italian sedimentological community. 

Among the participants, the BERMS project was presented with a poster entitled “BERMS – Beach EnviRonMentS: Towards a holistic approach for the study of sandy beaches”. 

The project focuses on the integrated study of sandy beach systems in southern Italy, combining geological and environmental perspectives to improve understanding of coastal dynamics and sustainable beach management.

Participation in the “Incontri di Geologia” offered an important opportunity to present preliminary results and to exchange ideas with colleagues from across Italy, reinforcing the relevance of multidisciplinary approaches in coastal research.
